Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who is now the head football coach of Jackson State, has elevated the program to new heights since taking over.
Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders, is the team’s starting quarterback and is making an immediate impact as well. In Jackson State’s season-opener against Florida A&M, Shedeur Sanders opened the game completing 17 of 17 passes, and eventually finished with just three incompletions. He threw for 323 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions in the team’s 59-3 blowout victory.
Last week against Tennessee State, Sanders completed 30 of 44 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown in the Tigers’ 16-3 win.
Last Thursday, Sanders surprised his teammates with an awesome gift that came directly from his NIL deal with Beats by Dre. During a team meeting, Sanders addressed the team.
“Listen up, when we go to Memphis man, this week when we play in Memphis, we’ve got to lock in,” Sanders said, via FootballScoop.com. “Be selfless and make sure we all look the same.”
After his intro, Shedeur Sanders presented the entire Tigers’ team with the latest Beats Studio wireless headphones – which retail at approximately $300 per pair.
“To my brothers, we’ve put in the work, now it’s time to show everyone what we are made of,” Shedeur Sanders shared on social media. “Let’s be legendary this season.”
Under Deion Sanders, Jackson State is thriving in the national Football Championship Subdivision rankings, and the Tigers are trying to repeat as Southwestern Athletic Conference champions.
